Expert answers to the most common questions

Otoplastics are custom-made earplugs that fit perfectly in your ears. They contain a filter that reduces loud, disturbing, or harmful noise, while keeping speech and important signals clearly audible. This way, you stay protected without losing contact with your surroundings. The term otoplastics refers to custom-made hearing protection with a filter.

Yes, all Elacin hearing protectors (excluding the Swim and Sleep & Relax models) are fully certified to meet the highest European safety standards. Each pair carries the prestigious CE certification, confirming compliance with the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) directive. This means Elacin earplugs undergo rigorous testing by accredited institutes such as IFA and PZT, ensuring superior protection, comfort, and performance. Every certified product comes with a detailed user manual that provides complete transparency and confidence.

The Swim and Sleep & Relax earplugs are not classified as certified hearing protectors but are carefully designed to seal the ear canal effectively. They are made for specific purposes, such as keeping water out or reducing disruptive noise, and deliver excellent performance with Elacin’s signature quality, comfort, and functionality.

Absolutely! At Elacin, we prioritize quality at every step. Each filter is acoustically verified in-house using our proprietary testing equipment and every set of earmoulds undergoes meticulous quality control, including a thorough physical inspection. This ensures that every product sold meets our rigorous standards and is 100% tested for performance and reliability.

In addition, Elacin has been awarded Module D certification under the 2016/425 directive on PPE, affirming our commitment to maintaining exceptional production quality control for all certified products. This certification underscores our dedication to providing products that consistently meet the highest safety and quality standards.

While fit tests are not mandatory in the EU (except in Germany), we are happy to perform them on request, ensuring optimal satisfaction and personalization for our customers.

Every custom-made Elacin hearing protector begins with a precise ear impression to ensure lasting comfort and a perfect seal. All Elacin service partners and ISO-certified technicians follow strict hygiene and safety standards to guarantee accuracy and quality.

Here’s how the fitting session works:

1. Explanation and preparation: The technician explains the process and checks each employee’s ears.
2. Ear inspection: The ear canals are inspected to ensure they are clean and suitable for making impressions.
3. Protection placement: A small cotton plug is carefully inserted to protect the eardrum.
4. Impression taking: A soft silicone material is then injected into the ear to capture its exact shape.
5. Curing and removal: After a few minutes, the material hardens slightly and the impressions are gently removed.
6. Final check: The technician inspects the impressions for accuracy before sending them to Elacin’s production facility.

When fittings take place at a company, employees are measured in small groups - typically 4 to 5 people every 15 minutes - ensuring an efficient process with personal attention.

The price of otoplastics depends on the type. Otoplastics with a filter - which protect against harmful noise while keeping speech audible - have a different price than earplugs without a filter, such as our Sleep & Relax or Swim variants.
